Grande Open Sided Wooden Gazebo Creates a Flexible Garden Canopy in Essex

Grande Open Sided Wooden Gazebo Creates a Flexible Garden Canopy in Essex

In September we were approached by a client in Essex looking to add a canopy over their raised wooden decking are as they wanted to get the maximum use from the space come rain or shine. As such we were keen to find out a little more information from the client before we gave any design advice.

Main Requirements

  • The homeowner was looking for a fixed timber garden structure that would offer shade and shelter.
  • The design must fit into the space constraints of the existing raised decking (5m x 3m).
  • Posts should be set onto the decking (beneath the joists) and have the ability to be bolted down to ensure adequate protection against the wind.
  • Felt shingle roof covering
  • The structure should have an open side design to allow the customer to take advantage of the views of the surrounding garden.
  • Looking for an option that would be supplied in a self build kit

In many instances we can offer homeowners several options from within our range of wooden garden structures however on this occasion due to the specific requirements of the customer the best product we felt to be appropriate to meet the needs of the property owner was the Grande Wooden Gazebo.

This was because it has an overall size of 4.9m x 2.9m meaning it would perfectly fit the available space, has timber support posts around the perimeter of the gazebo which do not block the view of the garden, provide proper support for the roof and can also be bolted straight onto the existing decking using the bolt down anchors. Furthermore with the option of felt roof shingle available in a choice of 5 colours the homeowner could match the gazebo roof covering with that of the surrounding houses.

As you can see from the pictures the customer was happy to order this wooden gazebo design and even sent us some nice pictures of it during construction.

The roof boards consist of individual lengths of pressure treated timber that are nailed to the roof structure. You simply start at the bottom and work your way up the roof using diminishing lengths of wood. Once this is complete the roof shingles can be installed.

Customer Feedback

“Thanks for the help and advice you have provided over the past few days. You really set my mind at ease that what i wanted to achieve was not only possible but also affordable. I am very impressed with your attention to detail and can only say great things about this gazebo. When it was delivered there were a lot of lengths of timber and had a sinking feeling i had overestimated my DIY skills however working methodically i seemed to get the hang of the installation in no time at all. As you can see i have now completed the build and am very impressed with the finished structure. In fact i have even moved our garden furniture up there so we can get the last of this year`s sunny weather due to the raised location of the decking.”
